Apted tapped for Video Challenge

DGA president named jury co-chair

DGA president Michael Apted has been tapped as jury co-chair for the Democracy Video Challenge, an online competition aimed at promoting global discussion of democracy.

The Motion Picture Association of America is a partner in the event. Apted will oversee the independent jury's selection of 21 video finalists representing all regions of the world and the online voting public will choose six regional winners in the spring.

The winners will receive paid trips to Washington, D.C., New York and Hollywood, and meet leaders from film schools and government and nongovernmental organizations. They will also participate in screenings of their videos hosted by the DGA and MPAA.
