David Cromer is 'Broadway Bound'

Director to helm revivals, including 'Beach Memoirs'

David Cromer will helm the Broadway revivals of “Brighton Beach Memoirs” and “Broadway Bound.”

Producer Emanuel Azenberg had previously said Daniel Sullivan would direct the plays, although no deal had been in place at the time. A rep for the productions gave no official reason for the switch.

The Gotham profile of Cromer, a Chicago-based helmer, has been on the rise since his staging of new tuner “The Adding Machine” played Off Broadway last season. His Chi production of “Our Town” will have a run at Off Broadway’s Barrow Street Theater later this season.

The revivals of “Brighton Beach Memoirs” and “Broadway Bound,” two autobiographical comedies by Neil Simon, will begin rehearsal in summer and start perfs in the fall. Shows will run in rep, although “Brighton Beach Memoirs” will likely begin perfs first, with “Broadway Bound” joining the sked in subsequent weeks.

Azenberg and Ira Pittelman, who teamed for the hit 2005 revival of Simon’s play “The Odd Couple,” produce.
