New Regency cozies up to 'Family'

Levin, Flackett to write, direct, produce film

New Regency has snapped up Mark Levin and Jennifer Flackett's original pitch "The Family Hitchcock," which they will write, direct and produce.

The Fox-based production and financing outfit came out on top of a bidding war that involved five studios, paying low- to mid-seven figures for the family adventure. The duo's elaborate pitch visually outlined the entire film with 234 cards, creating a map of the story.

Plot follows a family in danger after they house-swap with another in Europe.

Ellen Goldsmith-Vein is also producing through her Gotham Group shingle, with colleague Lindsay Williams exec producing. Gotham Group, which recently inked a first-look production deal with Sony Pictures Animation, has more than 30 films set up across town, including "Spanking Shakespeare" at Paramount; "The Devil You Know" for 20th Century Fox, with Shawn Levy directing; and "Big Brave Brian" for CBS Films.

Levin and Flackett wrote and directed the Jodie Foster starrer "Nim's Island" and co-wrote "Journey to the Center of the Earth." "The Family Hitchcock" reunites the duo with New Regency, which produced their first feature "Little Manhattan."
