Kamil will continue in her previous role as editorial director of Dial Press (which was moved into Random from the now-defunct Bantam Dell group), where she has been since 1993, and will report to Centrello.
The newly promoted exec also has worked at Simon & Schuster and at Random imprint Turtle Bay. She has published bestsellers including Sophie Kinsella's "Shopaholic," the basis for upcoming Jerry Bruckheimer production "Confessions of a Shopaholic," due out Feb. 13.
Random House imprint senior veep and editorial director Jennifer Hershey will report to Kamil, while Kate Medina (the imprint's exec VP and associate publisher) and Bob Loomis (exec VP and exec editor) will continue to report to Centrello.
News of Kamil's promotion arrives alongside reports of more cutbacks as the reorg starts to take effect. As early as next week, Random is expected to announce further layoffs, and the company is also in the process of restructuring its subsidiary rights operation.
Kamil isn't the only one who will be adding several responsibilities to her job description: Doubleday's Rebecca Gardner will take over duties from Claire Tisne for the Random House's imprint's sub rights team, and from Sharon Swados for Bantam Dell's.
