TJ Miller ("Cloverfield") will also star in the film that is inspired by the proliferation of email scams purporting to be sent by a Nigerian prince looking for help in accessing his fortune.
"Freshman Roommates" asks the question what if one of the emails isn't a scam. Story kicks off when a young man answers one such email during a drunken stupor. Soon thereafter, the spoiled son of a deposed African dictator (Morgan) shows up at his door, looking to secure his inheritance.
Project reteams Morgan with his "30 Rock" exec producer David Miner, who is exec producing "Roommates" alongside his 3 Arts colleague Dave Becky.
Morgan is producing via his Street Life banner.
Standup veterans John Mulaney and Nick Kroll wrote the screenplay, which they crafted as a starring vehicle for Morgan. Mulaney is a writer on "Saturday Night Live," where Morgan honed his comedy skills. Kroll was a writer and regular cast member on the short-lived TV skein "Cavemen."
Morgan, who stars on NBC's "30 Rock," most recently appeared in the Sony comedy "First Sunday." He lends his voice to the Disney CGI pic "G-Force," which bows July 24.
Miller, who next appears in the DreamWorks comedy "She's Out of My League," just wrapped Mike Judge's "Extract."
