Universal confirmed Tuesday that 'Mamma Mia!' has become the highest grossing release of all time at the U.K. box office.

Universal confirmed Tuesday that “Mamma Mia!” has become the highest grossing release of all time at the U.K. box office.

According to Nielsen/EDI data, the feel-good tuner has taken £69,066,035 ($105.3 million) to date, which means it passes longtime U.K. box office champ “Titanic,” which grossed $105.2 million a decade ago.

The musical, in its 23rd week on release, world premiered in London and has never looked back.

The pic, starring an ensemble cast including Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan and Colin Firth, opened socko, attracted excellent word of mouth and, later in its run, was sustained by popular sing-a-long screenings.
