The combined shops will take the Method name, and run out of the former Riot facility in Santa Monica.
Andy Boyd, former head of 3D at Framestore, takes over as head of 3D at the combined facility and will work out of the Santa Monica office. Gabby Gourrier will join the company as senior executive VP; commercials producer Helen Hughes signs on as executive producer and director of production.
Method will also open a new New York facility in the spring.
Aron Hjartarson, onetime head of 3D at The Mill NY, will take over as creative director at the Gotham facility. Matt Hackett will be animation supervisor there.
Ascent's worldwide network includes some 40 facilities in Southern California, New York, London, Singapore and Atlanta.
