Gough and Millar will produce the film in a package deal worth seven figures. The pair have a first-look deal with Disney, and they just produced "Hannah Montana: The Movie" for the studio.
Disney and the scribes are keeping the plot under wraps, but the title refers to a fictional town. The plot revolves around a young cast and a supernatural element. The film is expected to cost around $40 million.
Aside from "Smallville," which they've written and exec produced for seven seasons, the duo's script credits include "The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor" and "Spider-Man 2." Gough and Millar have been writing a Disney movie based on the Mouse theme park ride "Jungle Cruise," and they are scripting "Robotech," the sci-fi adaptation of the anime title for Warner Bros.
The scribes have been building momentum toward their eventual goal to become directors, and they scripted "Salisbury" specifically to make that leap.
