The untitled pic, which has a budget of $10 million, is set to shoot from February 2010 for delivery in the fall of the same year.
Wincott, whose credits include “The Three Musketeers,” “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” “The Assassination of Richard Nixon,” “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” and “What Just Happened?,” will play one of the leads.
“We will shoot way up north, in the Arctic isolation, where a person is either more hidden or more exposed,” Wincott told Variety. “Three people meet, something may have happened in their teenage years, and this will now result ín one death. It is drama, thriller and dark comedy.”
Ingemar Johansson will produce for his production company Elfvik Film, with Filmpool Nord and the Swedish Film Institute as backers. A Finnish co-producer is expected to board shortly and Elfvik is negotiating with two U.S. indies to back the project, according to Edholm, who declined to name names.
Edholm is casting for another U.S. or U.K. actor, and a Swedish actress.
He previously helmed action comedy “Baba’s Cars,” which was a Variety Critics’ choice at the 2006 Karlovy Vary Film Festival.
