The studio's Sony Pictures Home Entertainment unit closed its own Korean video releasing operation in September.
SPHE announced Monday that it had inked a deal with United Entertainment Korea (UEK) to distribute Sony titles on DVD and Blu-Ray.
UEK is a recently formed marketing and distribution outfit headed by Peter Woo, former MD of SPHE Korea. Company also holds license for Universal International Home Entertainment.
UEK has released Sony's "Hancock" and Universal's "Wanted" on DVD and this month will release both titles and "The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor" in the high-def format.
As the Korean video market has shrunk, all the Hollywood studios have progressively shuttered their own direct distribution units. Warner Home Video Korea was the last (Variety, Nov 11, 2008.)
