Blythe Danner on Richard Jenkins in 'The Visitor'

Actors champion fellow colleagues in 2008 performances

Richard is a throwback to another era. He has a wonderful combination of strength and gentleness that we don't see very often. He never calls attention to himself. In "The Visitor," he creeps under the skin of this character who has lost everything and is despondent and floating in this space that is without any grounding. His wife has died. He has moved back to New York, which is an alien place again. We watch as he is slowly restored back to life. The performance is mesmerizing.
