Covering soccer-mad mainland China, ESPN Star has signed a deal giving it exclusive English-language pay TV rights to 350 games from the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Europa League in the three seasons 2009/10 to 2011/12.
In Malaysia and Brunei, company has renewed rights to exclusive pay TV, broadband and mobile broadcast transmission of all UEFA Champions' League matches, plus the Super Cup, the annual match between the winners of the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League. Dela also covers UEFA-produced magazine shows and allows ESPN Star to produce its own in-house highlight shows.
ESPN Star, a joint venture between Disney and News Corp., already has various rights in Asia to soccer properties including the English Premier League, the FA Cup and aenior and under-21 England Team home matches and produces 1,500 hours of original soccer content each year.
