The preem had what one exec called "the nag factor": many, many teenage girls telling their parents they had to attend or they would die.
To accommodate demand, Summit Entertainment filled both the Village and Bruin theaters with 2,000 attendees.
"It reminds me of the 'Batman' premiere in 1989," said Summit co-chair Rob Friedman, who was an exec at Warners at the time. "I haven't felt this energy in Westwood since then."
About 2,500 fans, most of them screaming young girls, showed up to the event and pressed against police barriers to try to catch a glimpse of the pic's stars, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart.
"It's controlled chaos, but respectful," commented on-duty LAPD sergeant Sergio Guzman.
