Nat'l Geographic gets into games

New division to develop titles for all platforms

After carefully wading into the casual vidgame biz over the past few years, National Geographic is launching a full-fledged games division.

National Geographic Games will operate within National Geographic's extended platforms group, headed by senior VP Paul Levine. Unit will publish and develop games across major console, handheld, online and mobile platforms.

Announcement of the new group coincides with the release of "National Geographic Panda," a virtual pet simulation game developed and published by Namco Bandai.

"This is a terrific way to engage a new generation of consumers and families and to keep our brand relevant to a global audience," Levine said.
