Vadas would replace Jennifer Bresnan, who moved to CBS in August. The CW has been operating without a reality chief since then.
In a change, the position will no longer report to CBS, which operates the CW along with Warner Bros.
Instead, Vadas would report to CW Entertainment prexy Dawn Ostroff. Bresnan reported to CBS alternative topper Ghen Maynard (the exec whom Bresnan later replaced) when she was topper.
Vadas, who would serve as senior VP of alternative programming for the Dub, is VP of development at Oxygen Media.
Vadas joins the CW just as the netlet, like all the other TV networks, struggles to develop a new generation of hits. The CW has already cut loose one of its signature franchises, "Beauty and the Geek," and is working on several new ones, including "For Better or Worse" and "Operation Fabulous."
Vadas' oversight would include those shows, as well as veteran "America's Next Top Model" and frosh series "Stylista."
At Oxygen, Vadas has handled the cabler's reality and scripted fare, including "Tori and Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood," "The Bad Girls Club," "Campus Ladies," "Coolio's Rules" and "Mo'Nique's Fat Chance."
Vadas joined Oxygen in 2003. Her credits also include a stint at Nickelodeon, where she worked on shows such as "Drake and Josh," "All That," "The Nick Cannon Show" and "Tania."
