Heifner's 'Vanities' set for Broadway

Musical starts in February at Lyceum Theater

New musical "Vanities" has booked the Lyceum Theater for a Broadway run that kicks off in February.

Three-actor tuner, based on the 1976 play by Jack Heifner, has been circling Gotham since it was seen at the National Alliance for Musical Theater fest in 2006. Just prior to the NAMT showcase, the show preemed at TheaterWorks in Palo Alto, Calif. It recently played the Pasadena Playhouse in a run that ended Sept. 28.

The three thesps who made up the Pasadena cast -- Lauren Kennedy ("Monty Python's Spamalot"), Sarah Stiles and Anneliese van der Pol ("That's So Raven") -- reprise their roles on the Rialto. Story follows the friendship of a trio of women from the 1960s through the 1980s.

David Kirshenbaum ("Summer of '42") penned the tunes, and Heifner adapted the book based on his own play. Thesp-helmer Judith Ivey directs, with choreography by Dan Knechtges ("Xanadu").

Design team includes Anna Louizos (sets), Joe Aulisi (costumes), Paul Miller (lights) and Tony Meola (sound).

Junkyard Dog Prods. and Bartner/Jenkins Entertainment produce in association with Demos Bizar Entertainment.

"Vanities" begins perfs Feb. 2 with an opening slated for Feb. 26.
