Gelbart honored with literary kudo

Writer to receive Pen USA lifetime award

By JUSTIN KROLL Larry Gelbart will receive Pen USA's lifetime achievement nod at the org's 18th Literary Awards Festival gala Dec. 3 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

Aaron Sorkin will present the award to Gelbart, who scripted the films "Tootsie" and "Oh, God!" and exec produced TV's "MASH."

TNT and Michael Wright, senior VP of content creation for the cable net, will receive the Award of Honor for their impact on writers.

The Pen kudos cover 10 genres, with a Jan. 31, 2008, cutoff for consideration in the nonbook award categories.

Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood" will receive the nod for feature film screenplay, and scribe Terence Winter landed the teleplay kudo for "The Second Coming" episode of "The Sopranos."
