NBC orders full-season of 'Life'

Cop drama hopes Wednesday slot pays off

NBC has faith in “Life.”

On Friday the Peacock gave Universal Media Studios’ struggling sophomore drama a full-season pickup.

The gumshoe skein starring Damian Lewis moved out of the exile of Friday night last week to the Wednesday 9 p.m. slot. It didn’t exactly light up the night for NBC, running fourth in the time period with an average 2.0 rating/5 share in adults 18-49 and 5.9 million viewers. But it did manage to improve on its weak “Knight Rider” lead-in (5.1 million, 1.6/4), which was probably enough of a glimmer of promise for the show to secure the back-nine order.

“Life” is one of a number of sophomore skeins fighting an uphill ratings battle this fall after being off the sked for more than nine months as a result of the writers strike. Series was created by Rand Ravich and is exec produced by Ravich, Daniel Sackheim and Far Shariat.
