EMI CEO confirms reorganization

Leoni-Sceti to head New Music sector

Elio Leoni-Sceti, chief executive of EMI Music, confirmed the leadership and the reorganization of the music company into three global business units: New Music, Catalog and Music Services.

Leoni-Sceti will lead the New Music unit as its president, in addition to his overall chief executive role. Overseeing the unit creatively will be Nick Gatfield, president of A&R, North America and the U.K. & Ireland, and Billy Mann, president of A&R, international, and of global artist management.

Douglas Merrill, will assume the role of chief operating officer of the New Music unit, in addition to his current responsibilities as EMI Music's president of digital.

Ronn Werre will head the Music Services unit will be headed by president, and will focus on driving additional revenues in areas including sales, music licensing and synchronization, brand partnership and sponsorship.

EMI achieved a positive ebitda of £59 million ($118 million) in the six months to Sept. 30, a turnaround from the loss of $28 million the year previous.

The result was achieved on a small increase in total revenue in the first half to $969 million, including a 37% rise in digital revenues to $205 million.
