The $16 million adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel has struggled to attract auds since it opened Sept. 18 to downbeat reviews. For the week ended Nov. 2, the production played to auds at 44% of capacity and brought in about $300,000 in ticket sales.
A rep for the show has said producers are working on plans for a future national tour.
Next up at the Al Hirschfeld Theater, where “Tale” began perfs in August, is the Rialto transfer of the Public Theater’s revival of “Hair,” kicking off previews in February.
