'Parking' kicks off Golden Horse fest

The film, about a divorced man searching for the owner of a car that double-parks next to his, was screened at the Un Certain Regard at Cannes this year.
The two-week fest includes a retrospective of legendary Taiwanese director Li Hsing, as well as one on the works of Oscar-winning animator Alexander Petrov.
Attending the opening were Wei Te-sheng, director of Taiwanese hit "Cape No. 7," and actors from recent Taiwanese films "Miao Miao" and "My So Called Love."
Taiwan cinema, which has long played second fiddle to the East Asian cinemas of Hong Kong and China, received a boost this year with the success of "Cape No. 7," which is set for an unprecedented theatrical release in mainland China. Debut helmer Cheng Hsiao Tse's "Miao Miao" has been picked up by international sales outfit Fortissimo Films.
Taiwan's 45th Golden Horse film festival will screen 200 films from Nov. 6-21 in the cities of Taipei, Taichung and Kaosiung.
