F&ME signs Filmbank pact
U.K. company also agrees Content deal

Filmbank Distributors, a joint venture company owned by Warner Bros. Ent. and Sony Pictures Releasing, will distrib the F&ME catalog across all media in the U.K.
Filmbank reps many of the leading Hollywood and independent film studios in the area of film usage outside the theater and home.
F&ME’s catalog includes Milcho Manchevski’s “Before the Rain,” which was Oscar nommed and won the Venice Golden Lion in 1994, Gunter Grass adaptation “Call of the Toad,” and animated feature “Quest for a Heart.”
F&ME’s managing director Mike Downey, who runs the company with producing partner Sam Taylor, said: “By forging these ongoing alliances with Warner and Sony for non-theatrical we will see revenue at every level of distribution, especially in the cases where licenses are reverting to us after their initial license period, as in the case of ‘Before the Rain.’ ”
In a separate move, F&ME has also sealed deals with London-based international sales outfit Content Film for the world sales of two features whose licenses have reverted: “Before the Rain” and Venice competition entry “Loving Glances” by director Srdjan Karanovic.
Content has also taken TV sales for 14 titles in the F&ME catalog, including gay soccer pic “Eleven Men Out,” kiddiepic “My Brother Is a Dog,” Cyprus civil war themed “Under the Stars” and Keith Carradine starrer “Falcons” by Fridrik Thor Fridriksson.
Finally, F&ME and Maiden Voyage Pictures have signed up with Content Republic for an initial three features to be handled for VOD licensing to Internet platforms.
The pics, Rajko Grlic’s “The Border Post,” Jannik Johansen’s Danish chiller “Morke” and “Before the Rain,” will be the first wave of releases of F&ME titles in the U.K. by Maiden Voyage in December.
In addition to this, Maiden Voyage will release tween thriller “Mystery of the Wolf” in the U.K. in the first week of January.
F&ME is in post production on Dominic Murphy’s “White Lightnin’,” repped by sale company Salt, Nick Stringer’s “Turtle: The Incredible Journey,” “The Reykjavik Whale Watching Massacre” by Julius Kemp and “Donkey” by Antonio Nuic.
