Strand enters 'Lion's Den'

Co. nabs U.S. rights to Trapero film

Strand Releasing has picked up all U.S. rights to Pablo Trapero's "Lion's Den," Argentina's pick for Oscar consideration in the foreign-language film category.

Story follows a young, pregnant woman's fight for survival in prison after murdering her lover. Pic preemed in competition at Cannes and screens today at AFI Fest. Strand will release it next year.

Deal was negotiated by Strand co-president Jon Gerrans and "Lion's Den" producer Young-joo Suh, CEO of Fine Cut Co., which is selling international rights at AFM.
