Branagh ("Ivanov"), Ejiofor ("Othello") and Spacey ("Speed-the-Plow") are all in contention for the actor trophy, along with other candidates including Simon Russell Beale ("Much Ado About Nothing") and Adam Godley ("Rain Man").
Rickman scored a nod for his direction of "Creditors." Also on the helmers list are Rupert Goold ("Six Characters in Search of an Author," "No Man's Land," "The Last Days of Judas Iscariot") and Michael Grandage ("Othello," "The Chalk Garden," "Ivanov"), each singled out for their work on three different productions.
The National Theater ("Much Ado" and "Her Naked Skin," among others) and the Donmar Warehouse (whose credits for the season include "Othello" and "Ivanov") notched the most noms, receiving eight each.
Among the candidates for play are "Black Watch," the National Theater of Scotland production currently playing an extended return engagement in Gotham, and "Now or Later" by Yank scribe Christopher Shinn.
The West End incarnation of "Jersey Boys" and the Menier Chocolate Factory revival of "La Cage aux Folles" are among the productions vying for the tuner laurel.
Announced nominees will be trimmed to a shortlist later this week, with awards handed out at a Nov. 24 ceremony.
Candidates for the Standard's kudo for promising playwright have not yet been announced.
