Strike TV bows today

Online network strikes up Web shows

Strike.TV has finally launched, almost one year after the WGA work stoppage began.

The site, which has been in beta, officially bowed today with 10 Web skeins, including "Global Warming," with Kristen Wiig and Aasif Mandvi. Other skeins debuting include "House Poor With Mindy Kaling," created by "The Office" writer-producer Lester Lewis; "Tom Holland’s 5 or Die"; "Joe and Kate"; and "The Challenge," starring Bob Newhart.

The first three months of ad revenue profits will be donated to the Actors Fund’s Entertainment Assistance Program (EAP), which assists entertainment workers in times of crisis.

Online venture was formed during the writers strike as a platform for scribes and other pros. Backers had earlier targeted a summer rollout for segs (Daily Variety, July 3).
