Under terms of the exclusive, two-year pact, Nuyorican will create a wide variety of TV projects for the studio. Lopez runs Nuyorican with producing partner Simon Fields.
NBC Entertainment and Universal Media Studios co-chairman Ben Silverman announced the deal Monday.
The relationship reunites Lopez with NBC, where she headlined a concert special earlier this decade. Lopez also developed a laffer at the Peacock based on her experiences growing up in the Bronx and guest starred several times on "Will & Grace."
Under Lopez and Fields, Nuyorican has been busy expanding its TV development, having sold a smallscreen version of the Lopez feature "Maid in Manhattan" to ABC, as well as the project "Amigas" to Disney Channel.
Nuyorican’s TV credits also include the UPN drama "South Beach," the Univision mini "Como ama una mujer" and the MTV dance show "Dancelife."
Lopez got her start in TV via the shows "In Living Color" and "Second Chances." She recently starred in the film "El Cantante," which Nuyorican produced, and released her sixth studio album, "Brave."
Nuyorican was also behind the films "Shall We Dance," "Bordertown" and "Feel the Noise."
More recently, Lopez sold a show to TLC that was set to chronicle her life as she launched a fragrance. That project, developed under the cabler’s previous administration, is not moving forward as a series but may still be in the works as a special.
