"Never Forever" helmer Gina Kim will direct from a script by Gina Kim.
"The Housemaid," a thriller about a maid who ruins a family, was a huge box office success in 1960, which prompted Kim to remake it as "The Woman of Fire" in 1971 and "The Woman of Fire 82" in 1982.
Mirovision has budgeted the Korean-language retread at $2.5 million.
"I had a good relationship with helmer Kim Ki-young and his family before he passed away in 1998. Commemorating the 10th anniversary of his death this year, I'm honored to announce the remake project," Mirovision prexy Jason Chae, said.
Chae is looking for an international investor or a production partner for the pic, which he aims to shoot early next year.
The 1960 version was digitally restored by the Korean Film Archive with the support of Martin Scorsese's World Cinema Foundation and screened at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
The Tokyo Film Festival is currently screening a retrospective of seven films by Kim in the Wind of Asia-Middle East section, including the restored "Housemaid."
