Grasten gets behind English 'Hiccup'

Producer remaking Danish hit comedy

STOCKHOLM -- Danish producer Regner Grasten is exec producing an English-language remake of his Danish hit "Love at First Hiccup."

The $2.4 million redo is produced by Bob Engelman and helmed by first-timer Barbara Rothenborg.

Pic is a high school romantic comedy about Victor (Devon Werkheiser), a freshman who falls for senior Anya (Scout Taylor-Compton) who is way out of his league. Ray Wise and James Eckhouse play Victor and Anya's respective fathers.

Shooting is under way in Los Angeles. TrustNordisk is handling the sales.

The original Danish film opened in 1999 and became such a hit that it spawned three sequels, which took a combined $20 million at the local box office. The fifth film in the franchise "Anja & Victor -- for Better or Worse" has just been released.
