Double Feature Films partners Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher will produce.
The family adventure film is being scripted by Jeff Lowell, whose credits include "Hotel for Dogs" and "John Tucker Must Die," and who recently sold the spec "Family Bond" to Universal.
The story was hatched by Lowell and Matt Lopez, whose recent work includes "Escape to Witch Mountain," "Bedtime Stories" and the upcoming Nicolas Cage starrer "The Sorcerer’s Apprentice."
Lopez will be executive producer on the project, which for the moment is envisioned to take place in Tanzania and involve a mom, dad, boy and an older girl who get stranded in the wild and have to use their wits and cunning to make it out alive.
Shamberg and Sher made "Freedom Writers" and "World Trade Center" for Paramount.
Lowell’s repped by UTA and Management 360, Lopez by ICM.
