Fox taps Glenn Beck as anchor

Newsman to host 5 p.m. weekday slot

Fox News has tapped Glenn Beck to anchor the cable newser’s 5 p.m. weekday slot beginning next spring.

Beck, a conservative commentator who has been a marquee talent at CNN’s "Headline News" for three years, will also helm a weekend show on Fox under the new deal.

At present, the 5 p.m. program on Fox News is "America’s Election HQ," focusing on news and analysis of the presidential race.

Fox News chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said Beck’s "thought-provoking commentary" would be a good post-election addition to the cabler "as we embark on a new political landscape."

Beck who began his career as a Top 40 disc jockey in Corpus Christi, Texas, also hosts a daily syndie radio talker distribbed by Premiere Radio Networks as well as a show on Sirius XM Satellite Radio.
