Eichinger enjoys 'Minute of Silence'

Producer lines up Lenz adaptation

By ED MEZA

BERLIN -- After tackling "The Baader Meinhof Complex," one of Germany's biggest productions ever, producer Bernd Eichinger has lined up a smaller and gentler film, an adaptation of Siefried Lenz's "Schweigeminute" (A Minute of Silence).

Set in summer on Germany's Baltic coast, "Schweigeminute" tells the story of a love affair between a high school English teacher and one of her students.

Published this year, the book has remained on Germany's top 10 bestseller lists for months.

"Lenz's book moved me very much and we will do everything we can to do justice to the delicate beauty of the novel," Eichinger said.

Shooting is set to start next year with a release planned for 2010.

Eichinger will produce via Constantin Film. The pic has yet to be cast.
