Cheadle suits up for 'Iron Man 2'

Actor to replace Terrence Howard in sequel

Don Cheadle will replace Terrence Howard as Jim Rhodes in Marvel Studios' "Iron Man 2."

Jon Favreau is set to return to the director's chair while stars Robert Downey Jr. and Gwyneth Paltrow are also expected back.

Justin Theroux is writing the screenplay, which reportedly features a larger role for the Rhodes character.

In the first film, Rhodes was Tony Stark's best friend, but the sequel will see him become War Machine, Iron Man's nemesis.

Cheadle recently produced and starred in "Traitor." He is currently shooting Antoine Fuqua's "Brooklyn's Finest" and will next be seen in DreamWorks' "Hotel for Dogs."

He's repped by UTA.
