'You the Living' wins Nordic prize

Pic was this year's Swedish Oscar entry

STOCKHOLM — Sweden´s “You the Living,” helmed by Roy Andersson and produced by Pernilla Sandstrom, has won the 2008 Nordic Council film prize.

The prize consists of $70,000, to be shared by helmer and producer.

“You the Living” had its world premiere in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Pic later was named Sweden´s entry for the Oscars, and won three local Golden Bugs (best film, best helmer, best script) earlier this year as well as a Silver Hugo at the Chicago fest.

The other nominated films for the Nordic Council prize were Denmark´s “Erik Nietzsche – The Early Years,” helmed by Jacob Thuesen, Finland´s “The Home of Dark Butterflies,” helmed by Dome Karukoski, Iceland´s “White Night Wedding,” helmed by Baltasar Kormákur, and Norway´s “The Man Who Loved Yngve,” helmed by Stian Kristiansen.
