As with the successful run of six Varg Veum pics made 2006-2007, two from the new franchise will be for theatrical release and four for DVD release.
The two for theatrical, "The Writing on the Wall" and "In Darkness All Wolves are Grey," will have a budget of $4.2 million each, the other four will have budgets of $2.8 million each.
The films will be produced by Jonas Allen and Peter Bose for new shingle CineMiso, with production company SF Norge and Norwegian pubcaster TV2 as co-producers.
Helmers for the new pics have yet to be chosen. The first will start shooting in August to open in 2010.
Staalesen's novels have been translated into several langugages, including English and German.
