The company previously set projects with filmmakers and studios, with Peter Berg attached to direct and produce “Hercules” for Universal and Spyglass, John Woo attached to direct “Caliber” for Johnny Depp’s Infinitum Nihil and Bryan Singer to produce “Freedom Formula” through his Bad Hat Harry Prods.
The first new projects under Radical’s financing deal are upcoming graphic novel series “Aladdin” and “City of Dust,” a graphic novel series that Radical Comics just released. Radical CEO Barry Levine will produce both films, with Jesse Berger exec producing.
“Aladdin” will be scripted by Siavash Farahani, who penned “The Shadow” for Ghost House Pictures. The graphic novels twists the classic tale with an injection of supernatural elements to tell a story of the consequences of greed and wish fulfillment.
“City of Dust” will be scripted by Peter Fedorenko under the supervision of Steve Niles, who created the futuristic tale of police who patrol for crime of the imagination, and a detective who’s thrust into a murder investigation.
Radical’s Levine said that the development financing was secured through Lee Han, an unabashed fanboy who runs Singapore-based Lacho Calad Pte Ltd.
