BANGKOK -- There maybe deadly protests in the streets, but the World Film Festival of Bangkok will run Oct. 24-Nov. 2, hot on the heels of the modestly successful government-sponsored Bangkok Intl. Film Festival, which wrapped at the end of September.

The World Film Fest, hosted by the Nation newspaper, opens with Thai film "A Moment in June" helmed by O Nattapon. The pic was also in competition in Pusan this year.

Closing night will see the outdoor screening of Martin Scorsese's Rolling Stones doc "Shine a Light."

Other highlights include Cannes title "Three Monkeys" and Berlin hot screenings "A Jihad for Love," about transgender Muslims, and "Sita Sings the Blues," an animated version of Indian epic "Ramayana."

The festival will take place at Paragon Cineplex, which has previously hosted the Bangkok Fest.
