Universal taps Ymagis for digital

Co. has so far equipped 29 screens in France

PARIS -- Aligning with Paramount, Disney and Fox, Universal Pictures has inked a long-term contract with Paris-based digital cinema provider, Ymagis, for digital prints.

"At Universal, we are committed to the growth of digital cinema, the future of our industry," said Duncan Clark, exec VP of Universal Pictures Intl. "Our audiences will reap the rewards of the continued enhancement of the theatrical experience."

Ymagis, which started its roll-out with Gallic exhibitors last July, has so far equipped 29 screens in France.

It expects to announce agreements with other studios and European distributors and exhibitors in the coming weeks.

"This agreement is another step in our effort to help exhibitors in Europe convert to digital," said Ymagis CEO Jean Mizrahi.
