Martin named president of WE TV

Exec promoted at cable network

WE TV executive VP and general manager Kim Martin has been upped to president of the distaff-oriented cabler. She'll report to Rainbow Media chief Ed Carroll, who cited Martin's "leadership, vision and focus" in making the announcement.

Martin, who oversaw WE's forays into original programming over the past four years, takes the new post as the women's television field stands poised to become even more competitive, with Discovery readying its Oprah Winfrey-centered outlet, OWN, for a 2009 bow.
