Schoenfeld award recipients named

Broadway League to honor Klein, Schoenfeld

Shubert Org chairman Gerald Schoenfeld and Joel Klein, chancellor of the New York City Dept. of Education, will be the recipients of the Broadway League’s first Schoenfeld Vision for Arts in Education Award.

Schoenfeld’s work in arts education, which helped spur the creation of a curriculum framework called the Blueprint for the Arts, earned him the kudo, which is also named after Schoenfeld.

Klein, meanwhile, is being recognized for his own contributions to the arts component of the city’s education system.

Award will be handed out Oct. 6 at the first league gala, which will raise funds for Blueprint for the Arts as well as for the league’s education programs.
