'ER' alum, Cheryl Dolins launch Grand Central

Edwards and former NBC exec Cheryl Dolins have launched Grand Central Entertainment, sealing a multiyear overall production deal with CBS Paramount Network TV.
Under the arrangement, Grand Central — which will be based in New York — will create, develop and produce TV series for the studio. Shingle has already set up a comedy at the Eye.
Edwards said he was looking forward to scouting out writing, directing and acting talent — and he didn’t rule out a return to the smallscreen himself.
"I want to apply myself where I am needed depending on the project — acting, directing or producing," he said. "Cheryl and I have both succeeded in very different parts of the business, and together we have a broad spectrum of resources to draw from as we form this new company."
CBS Paramount Network TV prexy David Stapf helped launch "ER" as Warner Bros. TV’s head of publicity in 1994, when he first met Edwards.
"His creative talents go way beyond acting," Stapf said. "He’s a great director and can identify great storytelling. They’re both well respected in the creative community."
Edwards recently returned to "ER," reprising his role as Dr. Mark Greene in a flashback sequence. Edwards also directed episodes of "ER" and helmed the feature "Charlie’s Ghost Story." He’s next set to star opposite Uma Thurman in "Motherhood."
Dolins was most recently senior VP of comedy development at NBC, working on shows including "The Office," "My Name Is Earl" and "30 Rock."
