Brits back pic presence at Pusan

U.K. Film Council supports duo at festival

LONDON -- The U.K. Film Council is backing Brit companies Celsius Entertainment and Velvet Octopus at the Asian Film Market in Pusan, South Korea, which runs Oct. 3-6.

The UKFC in partnership with European Film Promotion and U.K. Trade and Investment is backing the companies to promote the industry overseas and help strengthen ties between the British and Asian markets.

Financial support, available for the third year running, goes towards travel, office space and the cost of production and marketing materials.

Titles being promoted at AFM are Gabor Csupo's "The Secret of Moonacre" (which was supported by the UKFC's Premiere Fund), Peter Howitt's "Dangerous Parking" and Matthias Hoene's "Cockneys Vs Zombies."

Brit pics playing at the Pusan Intl. Film Festival, which runs Oct. 2-10, include Mike Leigh's "Happy Go-Lucky," Terence Davies' "Of Time and the City" and Rupert Wyatt's "The Escapist."
