Pic is helmed by Prachya Pinkaew ("Ong Bak") and repped in international markets by its production company, Sahamongkol.
Starring newcomer Jija Yanin as an autistic girl who is a self-taught martial arts ace, pic recently played in Toronto and picked up awards at the Austin Fantastic Fest.
"Fans will be delighted by Prachya's return to kickass action," Magnolia senior VP Tom Quinn said. Magnet will release the film theatrically in 2009.
Pic is understood to have previously been sold to the Weinstein Co., but company is no longer involved.
Magnolia Pictures is the theatrical and homevid distribution arm of the Wagner/Cuban Cos.
