Summit, which picked up world sales rights to the film in June, has committed to a 3,000-print wide release across the U.S.
The move underscores the sales company’s growing ambitions as a more vertically integrated operation.
The $40 million pic’s road to release, however, has not been smooth. Hong Kong- and L.A.-based Imagi originally set up the film with Warner Bros. and the Weinstein Co. handling global rights outside its own territories in Asia; the two companies ultimately pulled out.
Separately, Imagi announced that Erin Corbett, formerly the company’s senior VP of global marketing, has been promoted to president of Imagi U.S. Cecil Kramer will leave her post as exec VP of production to become vice chairman of the company.
