Ha Jung-woo gets ready to 'Jump'

Korean actor to star in sports action film

SEOUL -- Ha Jung-woo, star of this year's Korean crime-thriller "The Chaser,” has signed to star in hot helmer Kim Yong-hwa's new sports actioner "Jump Broadly."

In the same vein as the hit 1993 Disney movie "Cool Runnings," "Jump" tells the story of five members of South Korea's oft-overlooked national ski jumping team. Ha will take on the role of the team leader.

Pic is Kim's third outing after hits "200 Pounds Beauty" and "Oh! Brothers." "Beauty" scored 6.62 million admissions in South Korea for a B.O. of more than $40 million -- tops for local comedies in 2006.

Production and sales firm KM Culture will provide the $7 million budget for "Jump" and will handle local and international distribution. Producer is Park Moo-seung. Pic will start lensing this month and is skedded to wrap in February.
