Oscar gets 'Wedding' invitation

Iceland offers entry in foreign-language race

STOCKHOLM -- Helmer Baltasar Kormakur's "White Night Wedding" is Iceland's entry for the foreign-language Oscar race.

Pic, about the upcoming wedding of a professor to a girl, was written by Kormakur and Olafur Egilsson and produced by Kormakur and Agnes Johansen for Blueeyes Prods. Executive producer is Lilja Palmadottir.

International sales agent is Celluloid Dreams.

"White Night Wedding" is also Iceland's entry for the annual Nordic Council's Film Prize, which will be handed out in Stockholm on Oct. 15.

The Academy has invited 96 countries to submit films for foreign-language Oscar consideration. Deadline for submission is Oct. 1, the nominations will be announced Jan. 22, and the 81st kudosfest takes place Feb. 22.
