Verbinski deliberately chose an exec who doesn't have a traditional film production background.
Peyron comes from McCann Erickson San Francisco, where he was exec veep and general manager, responsible for global strategy and management of the Microsoft account.
That included hatching campaigns for Xbox gaming titles like "Halo 3" and "Gears of War."
Verbinski is developing a feature film based on the vidgame "Bioshock," and "Rango," an animated pic for Paramount and Graham King that will reteam the director with "Pirates of the Caribbean" star Johnny Depp.
Despite the film activity, Verbinski plans to use his company to develop properties across multiple platforms. Aside from live-action and animated films, that will include videogames and other interactive media.
"The collision of animation, film, gaming, the Internet and television calls for a new kind of production company, one that is not siloed and compartmentalized at the outset, but rather designed to operate nimbly across all forms of new media," Verbinski said. "Nils understands this evolving landscape."
