The broadcast represents a couple of other signposts for the Eye's Nielsen-topping warhorse.
It will also serve as a 40th anniversary celebration. The Don Hewitt-produced skein debuted on Sept. 24, 1968 and featured chats with then-presidential nominees Richard Nixon and Hubert Humphrey. On this Sunday's installment, Steve Kroft will sit down with Obama, while Scott Pelley will handle McCain.
Sunday's episode will be the show's first in high definition, which will be the standard going forward.
