The books, set during Carrie’s high school years, will be published beginning in fall 2010 by HarperCollins Children’s Bray and Bray imprint.
With the success of the “Gossip Girl” novels and and television show, young adult books have gained increasing traction in the shrinking book biz, not to mention attention from film and TV producers. In a statement, Bushnell said that she’s “always been interested in exploring Carrie's teenage years,” declaring that it was during high school that Carrie “began observing and commenting on the social scene.” The announcement comes less than a week before the movie’s DVD release.
Her next novel, “One Fifth Avenue,” is due out the same day, Sept. 22.
