"Sports Soup," which bows 10 p.m. Oct. 14, will be shot in L.A. and produced by the team behind "The Soup." Comedian Matt Iseman has been tapped to host.
The half-hour "Sports Soup" will air twice a week on Versus, Tuesday and Thursday nights, and promises an irreverent look at the sports world.
" 'Sports Soup' will offer viewers an undistorted glimpse into sports," said Marc Fein, exec VP of programming production and business operations at Versus. "It's our way of providing a voice to sports fans as the show will say what we are all thinking but no one is actually saying."
Like "The Soup," which skewers entertainment media, the new show will pull clips from a wide range of sports media -- in this case, pregame and postgame shows, press conferences, local stations and other sources.
Iseman serves as a host on "Clean House," which runs on E! sister Style Network.
Versus was able to tap into "The Soup" brand thanks to the Comcast connection. Versus, now seen in more than 73 million homes, is wholly owned by Comcast Corp., while E! is part of Comcast's stable of entertainment networks.
