Signature extends 'Breeze of Summer'

Off Broadway theater to run show until Oct. 19

Off Broadway's Signature Theater has extended its production of "The First Breeze of Summer" for a second time, so that the play, originally set to close Sept. 28, will now shutter Oct. 19.

Extensions are a regular occurrence these days at Signature, which has for the last few years received corporate support allowing the org to sell all seats for all regularly skedded perfs for $20 each. During extensions, ticket prices climb back to $65 each.

"Breeze," Leslie Lee's African-American family drama that ran on Broadway in 1975, stars Leslie Uggams in a production helmed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson. Show is part of the Signature's season dedicated to the Negro Ensemble Company; next up is Samm-ArtWilliams' "Home."
